FROM THE ITALIAN WEST COAST TO THE WORLD: NENNE SANGUINETI POGGI, ARTIST WITHOUT BORDERS, PHILADEPHIA 2022

March 3 to 13, 2022
Grand Café L'Aquila, Philadelphia

On March 3, 2022, the inauguration of an out-of-the-ordinary initiative was held!
To enhance and introduce the world to Western Liguria, the project Riviera di Ponente was born: Italian West Coast, which presents through a series of videos the most attractive locations of this little-known coast full of wonders to be discovered, where Nenne Sanguineti Poggi was born and raised. Thanks to the support of the Italian Consulate of Philadelphia, it was possible the two projects, territorial and artistic, from which Nenne West Coast was born. On the premises of Gran Caffè L'Aquila, some of Nenne's works were exhibited and through themed dinners it was possible to taste traditional Ligurian dishes, the artist's home region.
From March 3 to March 13, the menu was inspired by Nenne Sanguineti Poggi's recipes (taken from her autobiography "Di che colore dipingersi?") made with ingredients from Ligurian producers of excellence.

Cristiana Mele, Consul General of Italy in Filadelfia, spoke at the event on the values of Italianness, still and always very present in U.S. culture.

The latest exhibition on Italian artist Nenne Sanguineti Poggi opened Thursday, May 17, at El Barrio's Artspace PS109 in New York. “A well-rounded woman,” emphasizes Deborah Sanguineti, the artist's granddaughter and curator of the exhibition, “who was born in 1909 and lived over 100 years, between Africa and Italy, outside the stereotypes and social conventions of her time. This exhibition has been an opportunity to weld collaborations with important institutions that have recognized the value of this artist,” she adds, ‘we thank and are honored by the sponsorships of NOIAW, Wolfsoniana, Rye art Centre, Milan Polytechnic and Mezzedimi Architect's Archive, with whom Nenne Sanguineti created several works.’
